There is a lot of great news from the Lapas Verdes (Great Soldier Macaws):
1. in Tortuguero we could observe that macaws regularly flew to the beach to visit the beach almond trees. This is now a significant source of food.
2. at the height of Limon, deep in the Talamanca jungle, a large biol. Corridor also for the Great Soldier Macaws. Tropica Verde will also be part of this new network!
3. 10,000 almendros are also being planted in the immediate vicinity. In around 20 years’ time, these will become the feeding and nesting trees for the greater soldier macaws.
4. the Ara project near Finca Curré is a great success! The population there has now cracked the 100-bird mark!!!!
We are very happy about the positive developments for the Great Soldier Macaw in Costa Rica!
