Our mission statement

TROPICA VERDE e.V. is committed to the conservation of tropical habitats, the preservation of biological diversity and the protection of endangered species. Specific conservation projects are carried out in Costa Rica and accompanied by educational measures both in Costa Rica and in Germany. The aim of the educational work is to raise awareness for the sustainable protection of the environment and biodiversity among the population and especially among children. The successful implementation of our projects and educational work is based on long-term, trusting and transparent cooperation with local stakeholders on the ground.

According to our members, Tropica Verde is primarily – but of course not only – due to its experience, authenticity, focus and and transparency a special association!

The little anteater, called Tamandua, is always on the lookout for ant nests whose inhabitants he licks up with his long tongue.

17 Goals for sustainability

The work of Tropica Verde is based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs for short) of the United Nations. The goals serve to ensure sustainable development on an economic, ecological and social level worldwide. They came into force in 2016 and have a term of 15 years – i.e. until 2030.

Tropica Verde is pursuing the achievement of four core SDGs with its projects:

SDG 12: Sustainable consumption and production
SDG 13: Climate action
SDG 14: Life below water
SDG 15: Life on land

The basis of our work and every project is always

SDG 4: Quality education.

Each project therefore includes educational aspects in the sense of Education for Sustainable Development.
