Local educational work is a core element of active nature conservation. To support this, an article about mushrooms has been uploaded to our homepage. Prof. Dr. Piepenbring and her co-authors impart basic knowledge about fungi and deal with the importance of fungi for the ecosystem. Fungi play different roles:  As part of the food chain, utilizers of dead organic material, symbiotic partners of plants, but also as parasites. The article also points out what effects the absence of fungi would have and thus makes it clear that fungi are indispensable for the existence of ecosystems.
