The Jansen family’s foundation is based on the Frisian motto “Rüm Hart – Klaar Kimming”. This means “wide heart – clear horizon”. “The purpose of the foundation is to promote the protection of the environment, nature, species and animals and, in this context, science and research”. […] To counteract the ongoing destruction caused by deforestation, poaching and land conversion, the Rüm Hart Foundation is launching a development and environmental education project for schoolchildren in Costa Rica under the project name “Nuestra naturaleza es un tesoro” (“Our nature is a treasure”) in cooperation with Tropica Verde e. V.”
Environmental education in Costa Rica thanks to the Rüm Hard Foundation
The Jansen family already supported Tropica Verde with €10,000 in 2023 and our association’s environmental education in Costa Rica with €7,500 in 2024. As a reminder and as a thank you to the foundation, teacher Natalia and her class gathered in front of the kapok tree to take this photo.
Supporting the local population with a focus on educational work in schools is a central concern of Tropica Verde. Tropica Verde is also involved in schools in Frankfurt, where it promotes educational activities.
In addition to focusing on educational work in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolis and in Costa Rica, we are working very intensively to protect the rainforest in the Central American country. Here we pay particular attention to reforestation, the expansion of biological corridors and the care of two animal species: macaws and tortoises. In cooperation with the local population, domestic associations and institutions and foreign organizations, we have been active throughout the country for over 30 years.
In this case, we would like to thank the Rüm Hart Foundation and hope for further support in the near future.
