Tropica Verde environmental education in Frankfurt for young and old

Commitment to the rainforest

As you know, the Tropica Verde association is committed to preserving the rainforest in Costa Rica, and we use all our strength and energy for this. An important part of this is: “Do good and talk about it.” We do this in Costa Rica and also in Frankfurt through environmental education. Dr. Stefan Rother has developed a program for this in Costa Rica together with qualified educational staff.

Connection between Costa Rica and Germany

In order to make this commitment visible and build a bridge to Germany, we have created an initial link with the “Airlift” project. The project was financed and supported by Engagement Global and the BMBF.

Experience the rainforest in the Palm Garden

You can’t tell exciting rainforest stories without a real rainforest. That’s why we developed a rainforest rally in the Palmengarten for children, young people and adults. The children from the elementary school and the young people from the Integrated Comprehensive School North had a lot of fun with the rally and developed it further together with Gabriele. This further development is important in order to be able to offer a really good rally in the end.

Invitation to the finished rainforest rally

The rally is now ready and we cordially invite you to try it out together with our speakers. Included, of course, is the “Monte Alto bed” with real seeds straight from Costa Rica. A ceiba with neat thorns and many hiding places for the animals previously shown in the rainforest show gives a small impression of the rainforest in Costa Rica. We are grateful for the cooperation with the Palmengarten Frankfurt, which supports us with its know-how.

Responsibility for the rainforest and fair trade

What should not be missing, however, is the responsibility of every single person for the preservation of the rainforest. This is why the topic of “fair trade” plays an important role for the products we eat for breakfast every day. Where do bananas, pineapples and cocoa come from? Who works for these fruits and under what conditions is this done in Costa Rica so that we can enjoy them here in Germany?

More justice through fair trade

The Fair Trade seal provides guidance for fairer living and working conditions on fruit plantations in Costa Rica – and allows us to enjoy our produce with a clear conscience.

Stay curious and come with us to the Frankfurt rainforest and to our rally.

Gabriele Schaar-von Römer – Deputy Chairwoman of the Board Tropica Verde e. V.
