FRANKFURTER BÜRGERUNIVERSITÄT: Humans, animals, the environment – health for all: opportunities of the One Health approach
24.10.2024 | 18:30-21:30h
Frankfurt
What is the connection between human, animal and environmental health?
Why is it so important to look at the
interfaces between humans, animals and the ecosystems in which they live?
These and other questions are the focus of the event with speakers from various institutions.
We use key topics such as water, biodiversity, climate change and nutrition to shed light on a broad spectrum of connections around the One Health approach.
In doing so, we take a look at what we can do to sustainably promote and protect the health of our environment and thus our own health.

MARKET OF GOOD IDEAS: Tropica Verde represented with a pineapple stand
People, animals, the environment and health.
These are precisely the priorities that Tropica Verde e.V. represents in Costa Rica and Germany.
These focal points urgently need our special attention, as many pineapple plantations in Costa Rica are gradually displacing the rainforest.
This deforestation of the tropical rainforest leads to a lower diversity of plants and animals and reduces the amount of rainfall in the region.
The pineapples on the plantations are fertilized, treated with pesticides and then sold for 1.99 euros in European supermarkets.
We ingest the chemical cocktail along with the fruit. And the second big question: How can this price come about?
What will be left over for the people of Costa Rica?
Will money remain in the country for education and infrastructure? We would be happy to discuss these issues with anyone who is interested. Who has ideas on how we can make this situation better known here in Germany to enable more conscious purchasing decisions?
We look forward to your visit!
