The protection of the soldier macaw and the associated protection of the biological corridor is one of our projects that we are driving forward together with local partners. In the past, Tropica Verde has particularly supported educational work and the development of the “Niños Monitores”, a binational school network. The pupils observed and recorded the biodiversity in the corridor. In this context, we are pleased to inform you that the number of macaw nests has risen by 19 to 69 in recent years thanks to the conservation projects. We want to continue to support our project partner CCT in its educational and awareness-raising work in the future.

As part of these macaw conservation projects, the Festival de las Lapas was held for the 14th time last year. The festival is held every year after the end of the school year and after the Lapa Verde nests have been counted. As part of environmental education, pupils from Nicaragua and Costa Rica present their projects in a playful and artistic way. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to find out more at the information stands of the various organizations. It was another successful event, with the children in particular leading the educational mission to protect animals.
