Rainforest show and palm garden tour bring Costa Rica to Frankfurt

Last year, the association in Frankfurt launched a pilot project on the “Secrets of the Rainforest” with the support of Engagement Global and the German Federal Ministry for Cooperation. Two schools in Frankfurt and two schools in Costa Rica were invited to share information and videos about everyday life in their respective schools on the same topics.

A rainforest tour in the Palmengarten Frankfurt has developed from this pilot project Airlift Frankfurt – Costa Rica as a supplement to the rainforest show. Dr. Stefan Rother, founding member of Tropica Verde, has developed an impressive picture and video show about the projects and the secrets of the rainforest from his many travels. It shows how the animals and people in Costa Rica live with and from the rainforest.

Protecting the rainforest Rainforest show

Rainforest in Germany is not so easy to find. The association has been involved in various projects with its cooperation partner, the Palmengarten in Frankfurt, for many years. The rainforest association can invite schools, daycare centers or other interested groups to take a tour of the rainforest in Germany.

Rainforest show inspires schools, daycare centers and families

In April, Dr. Rother’s rainforest show was on tour in schools and daycare centers and delighted all the young and old spectators. Even 6-year-old children in the daycare center asked for more after an hour of the rainforest show – and they got more.

We have been in good contact with the Sophie-Scholl-Schule in Flörsheim since last year, when the student representatives there sold fair chocolate and were able to donate more than 565 euros to the association for environmental education in Costa Rica. A big thank you from the association for the young and old rainforest fans in Costa Rica.

At Walpurgis Night on April 30, the witches were allowed to dance in the wildlife park in Hanau this year. A short tour of the wildlife park’s witchy animals was the start for families for Dr. Rother’s rainforest show. Everyone was spellbound by the frogs, snakes and looooong sloths that make their home in the rainforest.

Why protecting the rainforest is so important

The protection of the rainforest is a major concern for the association in order to continue to provide a home for the macaws and the people of Costa Rica. The offers here in Frankfurt for the tour in the Palmengarten or the show in August show the need for an intact ecosystem, which we are still far from knowing in all its facets.
