“Wild Hessen” campaign of the Hesse Sustainability Strategy takes off! Yesterday we were there when the new campaign to protect biodiversity was launched together with the Hessian Environment Minister Priska Hinz. Join in and get involved by taking part in the challenges and hands-on activities!
Although most of the campaign’s actions and projects are related to the protection of diversity on our own doorstep, it is important not to forget that we must not forget to protect diversity at home.We have forgotten that daily consumption also has far-reaching effects on domestic AND global diversity. After all, our consumption contributes significantly to climate change and the loss of fertile soils. Both have a negative impact on biodiversity.
But we don’t need to bury our heads in the sand, because there are solutions, e.g. conscious consumption of sustainable products can make a big difference! Growing organic pineapples in Costa Rica, for example, has much less of a negative impact on soil fertility than growing conventional pineapples.
