In 1992 – exactly 25 years ago – TROPICA VERDE e.V. was able to acquire the 70-hectare primary forest of the Finca Curré and thus save it from imminent deforestation.
The long-standing cooperation with our local partners continues to this day. During this time, observation stations were set up to enable scientific monitoring of the animals and plants. With the help of our partner Thierry, regular patrols are carried out in the rainforest to protect the area from illegal logging and poaching.
In 2005, we were even able to extend the Finca Curré by purchasing the adjoining plot of around 15 hectares to the north and, thanks to your support, we are delighted to be able to preserve this extremely valuable area for biodiversity.
The neighborhood cooperation “Los Guardianes” is currently gaining new momentum there. New cooperation plans with Finca Curré’s immediate neighbors, who want to become more involved in nature conservation, have been in the pipeline for some time. Together with the local partners, our project coordinator and our chairman were able to draw up initial proposals for agreements during their trip to the region.
