There is news from our project, the Finca Curré. Unfortunately, they are not good ones. Thierry Mangel, our forest ranger, who regularly walks around our property and keeps an eye on things, has discovered a freshly cut path on the Finca Curré. He suspects that it was tree thieves who were probably illegally cutting down trees on a neighboring property and – because it is the easiest and most direct way – removing them via our property. He tried to get support from the local police, but they were not available due to a strike. He is now planning to go there again with the support of Manuel Morales from our project partner ACBTC. However, he said that there was not much that could be done as long as the perpetrators were not caught in flagrante delicto. We are waiting for news from Thierry.
