Now that our environmental education program in Monte Alto, Costa Rica, is off to a good start again, we’d like to launch a comprehensive educational program here in Frankfurt for curious people of all ages. For us, education means understanding how things are connected, learning about other people and foreign countries and cultures, and trying out new products.

This is what the educational program should look like

We would like to build a bridge between schools in Frankfurt and schools in Costa Rica, specifically around Monte Alto. What is daily life like for students there? What is their commute to school like? What is the surrounding area like? And what is their favorite food? Through video diaries created by students from both Frankfurt and Costa Rica, the students will introduce each other to their daily lives and get to know one another better. The field trips planned for each group will be exciting. These will be organized thematically based on the students’ interests. The focus is on learning skills that apply to their own daily lives.

The Tropica Verde team in Frankfurt is putting together a program focused on the rainforest for groups of curious visitors. In addition, they are developing a program for people who have been considering volunteering for some time.

What interests people who are visiting Frankfurt or have been living there for some time? How can we present our work and explain the need to protect the rainforest in Costa Rica, even from here?

Statistics show that 25% of our medicines come from the rainforest. What if it can no longer fulfill its function? The rainforest is more than just trees, monkeys, and parrots. Everyone who has seen one of the fantastic slide presentations by our project staff member Dr. Stefan Rother knows this. People live in and depend on the rainforest and rely on its functions—as, incidentally, does global climate change.

So if you're interested in volunteering with Tropica Verde, would like to contribute in some way, or are participating in our programs, feel free to stop by the information office anytime. We appreciate any support.
