Tropica Verde was represented today with a campaign stand at the Blue Table. The Blue Table is an event aimed at pupils who manage school gardens at their schools. Today, the Römerberg was once again full of children and young people who came to the stands to find out more and to present their school. Afterwards, lunch was served together at large blue tables.
At our stand, visitors could find out about carbon dioxide emissions during the transportation of fruit. Many of the students were surprised that the airplane came off very badly:
CO2 emissions when transporting an apple from Lake Constance to Frankfurt by truck: 12 g CO2
CO2 emissions when transporting a banana from Costa Rica by ship: 43 g CO2
CO2 emissions when transporting a pineapple from Costa Rica by plane: 17 kg (!) CO2
Many thanks to all the volunteers who took part in this campaign!
