People, Animals, Environment—Health for All
October 24, 2024 | 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Frankfurt
What is the connection between human, animal, and environmental health? Why is it so important to examine the
interfaces between humans, animals, and the ecosystems in which they live? These and other questions are the focus of this event, featuring speakers from various institutions.
Using key topics such as water, biodiversity, climate change, and nutrition, we will explore a broad spectrum of interconnections related to the One Health approach.
In doing so, we will examine what we can do to sustainably promote and protect the health of our environment—and, by extension, our own health.

Market of Good Ideas: Visit our Tropica Verde booth
People, animals, the environment, and health. These are precisely the priorities that Tropica Verde e.V. champions in Costa Rica and Germany.
These issues urgently require our special attention, as many pineapple plantations in Costa Rica are gradually displacing the rainforest. This deforestation of the tropical rainforest leads to a decline in plant and animal diversity and reduces rainfall in the region. The pineapples on the plantations are fertilized, treated with pesticides, and then sold for 1.99 euros in European supermarkets. When we eat the fruit, we’re also ingesting that chemical cocktail.
And the second big question: How is this price determined? What does the Costa Rican public actually get out of it? Is there any money left over for education and infrastructure in the country?
We’d be happy to discuss these topics with anyone interested. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can raise awareness of this situation here in Germany to help people make more informed purchasing decisions?
We look forward to your visit!
