The initial goal was to become a climate-neutral school. Among other things, EnergIGS cooperates with the Tropica Verde association and thus supports the reforestation of the rainforest in Costa Rica as well as environmental education. Among other things, the Finca Alicia in <a href=\"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/en\/projekte\/monte-alto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monte Alto<\/a> was reforested thanks to donations from IGS pupils. There is a designated<a href=\"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/en\/reforestation-planned-on-our-new-finca-alicia-property\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\"IGS hectare<\/a>\" there. Other donations were used, for example, to <a href=\"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/en\/igs-nordend-runs-for-the-rainforest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reforest the Reserva Kinkajou<\/a>.     <\/span><\/span><\/yt-attributed-string><\/p>\n<p><yt-attributed-string user-input=\"\" class=\"style-scope ytd-text-inline-expander\"><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string yt-core-attributed-string--white-space-pre-wrap\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string--link-inherit-color\" dir=\"auto\">At the invitation of EnergIGS, biologist Dr. Stefan Rother inspired the pupils of IGS Nordend in the \"Rainforest Show\", informing them about Costa Rica and sustainable living in our everyday lives and encouraging them to reflect and imitate.<\/span><\/span><\/yt-attributed-string><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string yt-core-attributed-string--white-space-pre-wrap\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string--link-inherit-color\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string yt-core-attributed-string--white-space-pre-wrap\" dir=\"auto\" style=\"color: #006b46;\">The<a href=\"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/en\/projekte\/environmental-education-in-germany\/\"> rainforest show<\/a> can be booked for various events. Then find out here how you can effectively protect the climate with Tropica Verde. <\/h3>\n<p>Very important: In order to protect the climate, the top priority should be to avoid emissions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In concrete terms, this means, among other things:  <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn the heaters down a few degrees<\/li>\n<li>Energy-efficient renovation of houses<\/li>\n<li>Remove electrical appliances from standby<\/li>\n<li>only eat meat occasionally<\/li>\n<li>Use more bicycles or public transport and walk<\/li>\n<li>much more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unfortunately, some climate-damaging actions cannot be prevented. If you want to travel to Costa Rica, for example, a flight is essential. This is where a donation to Tropica Verde comes into play, because with your donation or membership you are making a targeted contribution to binding <span>CO\u2082<\/span> and protecting the climate.  <\/p>\n<h4><strong>To protect our climate, we ask you to do <em>both<\/em>:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Donate<\/strong> to <strong>rainforest conservation and<\/strong> <strong>save<\/strong> <strong>greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong> wherever possible <strong>!<\/strong> Further tips on climate and rainforest-friendly behavior can be obtained from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nabu.de\/natur-und-landschaft\/waelder\/18882.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">NABU<\/a>, for example.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to point out at this point that Tropica Verde <u>does not<\/u> advertise and sell classic<sub>CO2<\/sub> compensation. <span>CO\u2082<\/span> offsetting is often cited by companies as a green measure to improve their image. Many factors need to be considered when it comes to <span>CO\u2082<\/span> compensation. <span>CO\u2082<\/span> compensation is still a hotly debated topic.
