{"id":239317,"date":"2024-04-13T23:51:31","date_gmt":"2024-04-13T21:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/lecture-on-mushrooms-in-monte-alto-biofrankfurt-action-week\/"},"modified":"2024-04-13T23:51:31","modified_gmt":"2024-04-13T21:51:31","slug":"lecture-on-mushrooms-in-monte-alto-biofrankfurt-action-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tropica-verde.de\/en\/lecture-on-mushrooms-in-monte-alto-biofrankfurt-action-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Lecture on mushrooms in Monte Alto\/BioFrankfurt Action Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the BioFrankfurt action week &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biofrankfurt.de\/aktivitaeten\/aktionswoche-biologische-vielfalt-erleben.html#start\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Experience biodiversity!<\/a>&#8220;, mycologist and long-standing TROPICA VERDE member Prof. Dr. Meike Piepenbring will be giving a lecture entitled &#8220;Inconspicuous but indispensable &#8211; the importance of fungi in the forest development of Monte Altos, Costa Rica&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>TROPICA VERDE e.V. has been supporting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reservamontealto\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fundaci\u00f3n Pro Reserva Forestal Monte Alto<\/a> nature conservation initiative in north-western Costa Rica since 1997. In this region, a species-rich tropical dry forest was destroyed in the past in order to gain grazing land for cattle. As a result, not only did numerous animals, plants and fungi lose their habitat, but the water supply to the neighboring villages also became problematic during dry periods. Now a new forest is growing in the Monte Alto conservation area, the animals are returning and the water supply is once again guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"bodytext\">During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Meike Piepenbring will present our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tropica-verde.de\/projekte\/monte-alto\/\">conservation project on the Nicoya Peninsula<\/a> and highlight the functions of fungi in the growth of the forest.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 22.05.18, starting at 6 p.m. in the Arthur-von-Weinberg-Haus (Robert-Mayer-Str. 2).<\/p>\n<p>Come along and immerse yourself in the world of mushrooms!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the BioFrankfurt action week &#8220;Experience biodiversity!&#8220;, mycologist and long-standing TROPICA VERDE member Prof. Dr. Meike Piepenbring will be giving a lecture entitled &#8220;Inconspicuous but indispensable &#8211; the importance of fungi in the forest development of Monte Altos, Costa Rica&#8221;.
