Lina, a geography student at the University of Frankfurt, is writing her Master’s thesis at our Finca Curr\u00e9<\/a>. In the coming weeks, she will report on her research work and progress for you!<\/h4>\n

Lina reports: I have now been at Ken’s One World Farm, which is right next to Finca Curr\u00e9, for more than 2 weeks. The latter is my area of investigation. During these two weeks, I settled into my accommodation and discussed the most important steps of my data collection with Ken, the project partner of Los Guardianes<\/a>. It consists of two parts:<\/p>\n

1. measure the boundaries and important points of the Finca Curr\u00e9 and some neighboring properties with the GPS.<\/p>\n

2. conduct interviews with the neighbors of the property and several organizations involved, such as the surrounding protected areas of Kek\u00f6ldi and Gandoca-Manzanillo, the environmental agency MINAET or the Jaguar Rescue Centre, which would like to release animals into the wild on the Finca Curr\u00e9 in the future.<\/p>\n

We are currently in the process of contacting neighbors and organizations in person and by e-mail.<\/p>\n

However, communication via the Internet proves to be difficult, as there is no Wi-Fi in the forest and it is a long way into town. Cell phone reception is also not always available. This is why we primarily use personal contact.<\/p>\n

On 24.03. I walked around the Finca Curr\u00e9 with Thierry, who guards it, and the volunteer Rasmus. I recorded the route on the GPS and marked important key points on it. It was a great hike through this untouched rainforest, albeit very strenuous ;).
